Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 Service Pack 1 (SP1) has been designed specifically to help meet the challenges of any hosting provider businesses that delivery rich email and collaboration services. Exchange Server 2007 SP1 is a mission-critical communications tool that enables employees to be more productive and access their information anywhere and anytime while providing a messaging system that enables rich, efficient access to e-mail, calendar items, voice mail, and contacts. For the Hosting Operations administrator, Exchange Server 2007 SP1 provides advanced protection options against e-mail security threats, such as spam and viruses, as well as the tools to help manage internal compliance and high availability needs.
I'm so happy to write about the official support of Exchange Server 2007 SP1 in HMC! The HMC Product team has finished a full regression test on HMC 4.0 with Exchange Server 2007 Service Pack 1, and not found any problems. It is therefore safe for customers running or deploying HMC4 to install SP1. In fact it is recommended that HMC4.0 customers upgrade to SP1 as soon as possible. As always they should first test carefully in their own test environment.
Note that the Product Team's testing was NOT done on the original build of HMC 4.0 but on a system which had also had the important HMC rollup fixes installed. Customers should be running these fixes:
The "HMC Exchange Rollup" will be available under this link
The "HMC Sharepoint Rollup" will be available under this link
An HMC whitepaper will be made available for download from the HMC official page in the coming weeks. The whitepaper will describe the benefits to hosters and their customers available in SP1 and also will provide important information about the installation, including required and recommended hotfixes.
